Waters Fraction Collector II

The Waters II fraction collector is made by Advantec of Japan. The racks have flexible test tube support holders so that more then one size of tube will fit into a given rack and there is more then one size of rack. This arrangement is less compact then that used by Gilson and ISCO but unless you are under pressure to save every last bit of bench space this will likely not be a problem. In addition the Waters fraction collector II racks are quite a bit more compact then the Waters fraction collector I racks.

Unlike the ISCO JR, we have not had any problems with the durability of the dispensing arm but we would rate it as being somewhere between the fragility of the ISCO JR and the sturdiness of the Gilson 203.

These collectors always seem to have three way valves installed in them when we purchase them and we include them as a standard and not an option when we resell them.

These collectors are well liked and normally fetch high prices in auctions. We have however however found the user interface to be extremely annoying and counter-intuitive.

Here at 2H2, we support the metric system and feel the world would be much more productive if the imperial system was completely retired. With lumber, a "2 by 4" is not 2 inches by 4 and a 1/2 inch plumbing fitting has no dimension that is half and inch. These sorts of things can cause inefficiency but things get really painful when the two systems are mixed. Sadly this will likely be the case with the Waters fraction collectors. While it should be a good thing, the valve requires metric fittings. These metric fittings also require flanged tubing. While we use metric fittings on the fraction collector half we normally send these collectors out with 1/16 Teflon tubing and 10/32 PEEK fittings on the detector side as this is what is required by most of the industry. If you would like metric fittings on both sides, please let us know in advance and we will accommodate this.

At one point all of our prices were posted online. Since the subprime fiasco of 2007 we have had an increasingly difficult time keeping our online prices up to date with the number of currencies that we normally quote in. Worse yet (for us) the prices of many instruments are in a state of flux. At this time(June 2010) we are in a buyer's market, this is an excellent time to buy used instrumentation, with prices approximately 10-15% lower then in 2007. Unfortunately we have had to switch from an online pricing setup to a quote-on-request one.

If you would like a quote on one of our fraction collectors please let us know if you would like our standard one year warranty or our optional 90 day warranty. Please note that only the parts needed to return functionality to the fraction collector are replaced with the 90 day warranty, while parts are proactively replaced with are standard one year warranty.
